# Rebuild Huahua 🐕 Chihuahua is changing fast, and if you have followed the last few upgrades you have seen it: - **v9.5.0** closed the Alliance chapter and cleaned up what was left behind. - **v10.0.0** moved the chain to the current Cosmos stack: SDK v0.54, CometBFT v0.39, CosmWasm 3 and IBC v11. Burned fees are now counted on chain, `x/liquidity` lives in the Chihuahua repository, and the modules we no longer use are gone. - The connection with Osmosis is back. We are not patching an old chain anymore. We are rebuilding it into something bigger and more complete, one step at a time. This proposal is the next step, and this time it is about the people who run the network. ## The change One staking parameter: `max_validators` goes from **80 to 30**. Everything else stays the same. ## Why Chihuahua has 80 seats in the active set, but only **24 validators are active** today. 56 seats are empty. With that many free seats there is no race: anyone who bonds a single HUAHUA and stays unjailed gets in, and nobody can be pushed out. A validator that misses blocks or upgrades late keeps its seat exactly like one that is always there. 80 made sense when Chihuahua had more than 80 validators fighting for a place. Today it is a ceiling nobody reaches. 30 is a number we can fill, and a full set is a set that has to earn its place. ## What 30 means - **No active validator is removed.** 24 is below 30, the current set stays as it is. - **The door is open.** 6 seats are free for new validators and for jailed ones ready to come back. - **Seats are worth something again.** When more than 30 validators want in, the 30 with the most stake are active. The rest earn their way in by running a solid node, upgrading on time and showing up in governance. There are 224 jailed validators, many still holding delegations that earn nothing. As that stake moves to active validators and new teams join, the 30 seats will fill up and the race begins. That is what we want: a set of validators that compete to be the best. ## Why not fewer A smaller number, like 20, would push out small validators that are doing a good job today. The goal is a stronger set, not a smaller one. ## What you can do - **Validators:** keep your node healthy and up to date. If you were thinking of joining, now is a good time. - **Delegators:** check where your stake is. If your validator is jailed or inactive you earn nothing: redelegate to an active one, and spread your stake. More validators with real stake means a stronger chain for all of us. The number can always be changed again by governance. More is coming. Let's rebuild Huahua together. 🐕🔥 Parameters: unbonding_time: 1814400s max_validators: 30 max_entries: 7 historical_entries: 10000 bond_denom: uhuahua min_commission_rate: 0.050000000000000000
